It’s a pleasure to see an MD/pianist so in sync with a vocalist taking risks. Alex Leonard not only plays with terrific finesse but has translated Vernon’s very different, often difficult intentions to viable scenarios.

The kind of smooth, urbane voice that fits Porter to a tee... Leonard is a swinging, sexy pianist..." - Jerome Wilson, Cadence Magazine

"His piano playing is top draw, betraying thoughts of Bill Evans, Erroll Garner, and Hank Jones." - Dave Nathan, All About Jazz

"Alex Leonard is one of the finest jazz pianists performing today." "One of the most superb, finest Cole Porter collections made in recent years." - Lee Prosser, JazzReview.com

"... a class act. If you love jazz and Cole Porter, this CD will start your year off right... superb piano playing... Alex Leonard and a group of terrific musicians have some serious jazz chops..." - David Hurst, Show Business

"Leonard's precise, responsive, fluent right hand might be doing surgery... with sincerity and tenderness. Leonard knows what he's singing. A cottony high note lingers. We exit smiling." -Alix Cohen, Broadway World

"a polished musician with complex, thoughtful, yet accessible interpretations from an eclectic song list." - Elizabeth Ahlfors, Cabaret Scenes

"Laurie Beechman Theater hosted A Marvelous Party – An Evening of Noel Coward Songs...Highlights included:... Alex Leonard’s unusually poignant, though jazzy version of “Dance Little Lady” exemplary of “the allure and corruption of those syncopated rhythms”. -Alix Cohen, Women Around Town

"...his vocal is so tender, so touching... his playing throughout is marked by uncommon grace. This is a lovely evening, filled with music I could listen to for hours. - Roy Sander, bistroawards.com

"The show got off to a rollicking start with jazz pianist/singer Alex Leonard, who had composed a new song... Its snazzy tune and delicious lyrics perfectly encapsulated Leonard’s breezy delivery and obvious passion for the American Songbook." - David Hurst, Next Magazine
